Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search feature is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and delivers its results; we do not retain a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When someone emails us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems automatically receive ordinary technical information when a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- The pages opened and approximate time spent on them
- Device category and operating system
- Browser type and version
- The referring website, when available
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help show how the site is used, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine this activity into traffic reports. A browser can reject cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Maintaining reliable site performance
- Routing a search to the provider selected by the user
- Understanding which content is useful or needs improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The published material explains how to reach Marion County custodians, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies power the search tools. Information submitted there is governed by the selected provider's privacy policy. Because each provider sets its own retention and disclosure rules, review those terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Office of the Marion County Sheriff, Kentucky Court of Justice, other government agencies, legal resources, or private search services. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy practices apply. Check them before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to observe activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may nevertheless be available to:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers handling a query the visitor submits
- Advertising networks placing material on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that an unauthorized event will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect a minor's personal information. If we learn that someone under 18 supplied such data, it will be removed.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide additional control over personal information. Kentucky's Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs qualifying records held by public agencies; it does not transform this private website into a public agency. KRS 17.580 separately governs dissemination of designated registry information. Subject to the law that applies, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of personal data we hold
- Ask to review information maintained about them
- Seek correction of inaccurate personal information
- Decline certain forms of processing where a legal right permits it
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. A replacement becomes available on this page and carries a new effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
